Galleywood Historical Society
Welcome to our Website. Founded in 1998 the Society aims to promote interest in the history of Galleywood and the surrounding areas. The Society works in partnership with Galleywood Heritage Centre and its Archive Group www.galleywoodheritagecentre.org.uk
The Society runs an annual programme of talks by both members and invited speakers. Membership renewal is due at the November meeting at a current cost of £10pa (£9 if paid by standing order) - exceptionally for 2020-21 has been reduced to £5. Outside of pandemic restrictions, visitors are also most welcome to attend any event for £3. If in doubt a contact is shown below. A quarterly newsletter 'Past Times' is also sent to members.
We have decided to restart our talks and that on the Steam Tug Brent is currently scheduled to take place on Wednesday 7th July as usual 8.00pm at The Keene Hall. We hope you wil feel able to join us.
On Wednesday 21st July as part of the Galleywood Festival there will be a talk at St Michaels Church starting at 2.00pm. This will be on Monte Rey and his connection wioth Galleywood and will be given by Christine and Les Whybro supported by Ken Edwards. Members Free, £3 for guests.
